Animated citylight campaign
Ais is an ice cream manufactory in Cologne that makes every scoop from high-quality, natural ingredients. For their citylight campaign I created an animated poster that takes this love for the product to the street – a playful mix of illustration and real ice cream.

The challenge
A citylight is seen in passing – people have only a few seconds. The poster had to stop them, make them crave ice cream and still feel as handmade and natural as Ais itself.
The approach
Instead of a classic product shot, I placed the real ice cream at the centre of an illustrated world. The drawn characters and details frame the photographed scoop: the product looks real and appetising, the scene stays warm, colourful and unmistakably Ais.
From illustration to motion

Illustration
First I drew every asset on its own layer – characters, hands, plants and background – so each piece could move later.

Real image
The ice cream itself stays photographic. That way the product looks as fresh and real as it tastes.
03
Animation
In the second step I brought the assets to life in a short, seamless loop that works without sound and catches the eye from across the street.
