The challenge
A cover has to work as a tiny thumbnail online and as an object on the bookshop table – and tell readers within a second what kind of book they are holding.
The approach
One strong scene with a confident character, vivid colours and lettering that becomes part of the illustration.
From draft to cover

Sketches
I explored different scenes and compositions and discussed them with the author.
02
Illustration
The chosen idea was illustrated in full colour, with lots of small details to discover.
03
Typography
Title and author name were integrated so that image and text read as one.
