Quarks, the ARD’s science brand, helps people find their way in a complicated world – always evidence-based, curious and close to everyday life. For their social media channels I illustrate posts that investigate questions about society and answer them clearly: complex studies and topics, reduced to easy-to-grasp knowledge on a single tile.

The challenge
Studies and social debates are complex – but a social post has just one tile and a few seconds of attention. The challenge: reduce a whole topic to its core without losing accuracy.
The approach
Every post starts with a question people actually ask themselves. The illustration gives the answer a face: it captures the mood of the topic, guides the eye through the facts and makes even heavy subjects approachable.
From text to tile

Text
The editorial team researches the topic and delivers the finished texts – evidence-based and fact-checked.
02
Illustration
I translate the content into an image: a scene or character that captures the core of the question at a glance.
03
Tile
Text and illustration come together on one tile or a short carousel – in Quarks’ visual language and ready for the feed.
